Frat Party Glamby ~realityundersiege

This is my entry of the Project Designer competition.

Oh wow...where to start? Well, as always a lot of though and preparation went into this design. I started out with 18 designs and then FINALLY narrowed it down to this one.

So, the design topic was to make an outfit that would be able to serve as both a frat part outfit and a celebrity night on the town. We were to include both a purse and a hat for the outfit. AND we had to pick out a fabric out of 9 choices to use in our design. I chose a green striped one. [link] (go three over and two down)

The striped original fabric is linen. While the body of the dress is made of a cotton poly blend (it’s a knit not a woven...aka stretchy). The hat is made of the same color sage green that the body of the dress is, but it is a cotten blend that is smoother with some sturdy material in between the two layers of fabric to keep it’s shape. There is a white cotten stripe along the hat’s border, and it also includes a strip of the sage green striped fabric on it. There are three small green stones/gems on the hat as well. The purse is made of a sage green satin with the original green stripe fabric sewed on to it as an embellishment.

Now, to explain the hat and its transformation from the frat party into the glam celeb. The top of the hat either can be snapped to the inside of the hat, or can be unsnapped and made into a very classy hat. The snaps are on the border of the top of the hat and fold under and snap under it so that when you are wearing the smaller hat, (as seen in my second drawing) they do not show.

There is also jewelry that matches the stones on the hat that can be placed in your purse, and when the time comes to go from the frat party fling to the glamorous night on the town you can simply put it on!
